In the last weeks, we talked intensively about wikis and in this sense, with knowledge management. Now we would like to respond to the theme “knowledge management in business” in more detail.
Knowledge management refers to all strategic and operational activities and management tasks, which aim at the best possible handling of knowledge. It deals with the central question: “Does my company know at all, what it knows?”
Because of the social change towards a knowledge- and innovation-oriented society, knowledge is alongside capital, land and labor a crucial production and competitive factor in business. An efficient knowledge management also allows the migration of knowledge due to the departure of important employees from the company.
Particularly information systems such as wikis or other document management systems can contribute to knowledge management in companies to give employees the availability to communicate and also to provide and maintain information.
Mostly important is the acquisition of knowledge in your company. You can use, for example, the following tools for the collection of the knowledge base in your company:
- Balanced Scorecard
- Creativity techniques
- Mind mapping
